3 DIY Mouthwash Recipes

Rosemary Peppermint Mouthwash

Peppermint makes this mouthwash cooling, tingly, and minty fresh, while rosemary fights odor- causing germs and is antibacterial.*

Ingredients
2½ cups of filtered water
3 drops rosemary essential oil
4 – 5 drops peppermint essential oil
A jar with a tight-fitting lid

Directions

  1. Mix all ingredients together and put into container.
  2. Swish 1 tbsp around mouth for 1 minute. Be sure to shake well before use!
  3. Will last up to a month in the fridge.

Cinnamon Mouthwash

Unlike mint, which masks the smell of bad breath, cinnamon actually kills off odor-causing bacteria.* The honey in the recipe sweetens the flavor without artificial sweeteners. Lemon contributes to the reduction of bad breath, while baking soda helps whiten teeth.*

Ingredients
1 cup of warm water
1½ tsp honey
½ tbsp cinnamon
1 tsp baking soda
3 drops lemon essential oil
A jar with a tight-fitting lid

Directions

  1. Put cinnamon, baking soda, and warm water into jar.
  2. Stir in lemon essential oils and honey. Shake well.
  3. Swish mouth with 1 tbsp for 1 minute. Will last up to 3 weeks in the fridge.

Tea Tree and Mint Mouthwash

Tea tree oil is known for its antimicrobial, antibacterial qualities, making it a great oil for infections.* The peppermint in this recipe masks the bad breath and lessens the strong flavor of tea tree. Be careful not to swallow this mixture!

Ingredients
1 cup of water
1 – 2 drops tea tree essential oil
2 – 3 drops peppermint essential oil
A jar with a tight-fitting lid

Directions

  1. Pour the water into your container and add the essential oils.
  2. To use, swish 1 tbsp for up to 1 minute. Shake well before use. Will keep 3 weeks in the fridge.
