DIY Disinfectant Wipes With Essential OilsYou can replace those store bought wipes with these easy versions of homemade DIY disinfectant wipes with essential oils.  These wipes have not been lab tested, we encourage you to use your good judgment when using.* Our intention is to give a few recipes to make as home sanitizing wipes with essential oils. Recipes include soap or alcohol which break down viruses. Essential oils mentioned in the article have properties that enhance sanitization.

These essential oils are just some of the many essential oils that have disinfecting properties like being antibacterial, antiviral, antimicrobial, antifungal, antiseptic, and deodorizing.

DIY Disinfectant Wipes With Bandits Essential Oil Blend

Cut the paper towel roll in half.  Mix together all the ingredients in a small bowl. Slowly pour the liquid over the paper towels. Once saturated, carefully remove the cardboard center, and pull a paper towel from the middle.

DIY Disinfectant Wipes With Essential Oils for the Kitchen

  • 3/4 cup distilled water
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons (or more – tailor to your liking) Dawn dish washing soap
  • 10 drops lemon essential oil
  • 10 drops tea tree essential oil
  • 10 drops eucalyptus radiata essential oil
  • 20 – premium 2 or 3-ply paper dinner napkins (bar towels or washable towels can be substituted)
  • Mason jar or other glass jar with lid (glass, stainless steel, or plastic #1 HDPE or plastic #2 PET) 

Combine all ingredients, except the napkins, in the canister. Stir to combine.  Add the paper napkins. Replace the lid and swirl to soak the napkins. Store in a cool, dark place. Makes 20 wipes.

NOTE: Please be sure to test all these DIY disinfectant wipes with essential oils  recipes on a small area of your counter tops, etc. before using.  Granite Counter Tops: Omit the vinegar if you have granite counter tops as vinegar is not recommended. You can substitute isopropyl alcohol instead or add more water.

Additional Recipes For DIY Disinfectant Wipes With Essential Oils

  • paper towel roll

  • 1/4 cup rubbing alcohol – You need to use either isopropyl alcohol (aka rubbing alcohol) or grain alcohol that is at least 140 proof. 
  • 1 teaspoon liquid dish soap
  • 10 drops essential oil(s) of your choice (lemon, tea tree, lavender, bergamot)
  • large empty metal coffee can or canister (glass, stainless steel, or plastic #1 HDPE or plastic #2 PET)

For this recipe or any of the above you can also use the premium paper dinner napkins, All depends on your preferences or what is available to you in your home. Where to Use These Disinfect Wipes With Essential Oils

Use these DIY Disinfectant Wipes With Essential Oils –

In the kitchen use on counter-top (test before use), trashcan, cabinet handles, faucets, light switches, refrigerator handles, oven handle and stove knobs.

In the bathroom, use on light switches, toilet, faucet, counter-top (test before use), door knobs.

Other places around the home use on remote controls, computer mouse, phones, light switches, door knobs.

Some additional things outside the home use on steering wheel and gear shift in the car, shopping carts, restaurant table and chairs, airplane seat, tray table, seat table.

DIY Disinfectant Wipes With Essential Oils – Personal Sani-Wipes for Travel

  • Baby wipes or premium paper dinner napkins
  • 1 1/2 C. very warm water
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon rubbing alcohol or vodka You need to use either isopropyl alcohol (aka rubbing alcohol) or grain alcohol that is at least 140 proof.
  • 3 drops lavender essential oil
  • 3 drops lemon essential oil
  • container – old wipes container or a plastic bag

Melt coconut oil in the water then pour the mixture onto the wipes or napkins. If you are using the baby wipes for this recipe, you most likely won’t need to use all of the liquid. Save it for another batch in a glass container. NOTE:  This recipe is not intended to be used on children under five years of age.

NOTE: Some oils are toxic to cats and dogs. Before using, consult references on oils to avoid.
