Background Information on Tea Tree, Organic Essential Oil

Melaleuca alternifolia was used by the aboriginal Australians centuries before Europeans “discovered” Australia. The harsh climate in Australia made the plant ideal for soothing skin irritations and preventing disease. Captain James Cook is credited with discovering the medicinal and behavioral properties of the Tea Tree essential oil on his first visit to Australia. The oil has been available commercially since 1920.

This lovely essential oil is renowned for assisting the issues and supporting the body to help fungal infections, viral infections, bacterial infections, colds, influenza, cold sores, warts, inflammation, acne, burns, candida, shock, and hysteria.* Tea tree is commonly used for opening the breathing passages, relieving pain and discomfort, and clearing cluttered thoughts.*  

Tea tree essential oil is used as an antimicrobial that has been found to be particularly effective aid for acne, lice, dandruff, Candida, bacterial infections of the skin, athlete’s feet and even herpes.* This pure essential oil aids the body toward quickening the healing process, and normalizing skin.

Tea Tree, Organic Essential Oil Uses and Benefits / Blends

  • To find new ways of thinking, vaporize 3 drops of tea tree, and 3 drops of peppermint.
  • To strengthen self-confidence, take a bath with 2 drops of tea tree, and 4 drops of tangerine.
  • To quicken the healing of infected sores, place 2 drops of tea tree on a cotton ball, and apply the oil near the affected area.*
  • To ward off viruses, mix tea tree, black pepper, and bergamot and rub it into the chest twice daily.*
  • To draw out infection of the skin, apply a hot compress with 2 drops of tea tree, and 2 drops of bergamot.*
  • To normalize skin, mix tea tree with lemon, and geranium and apply it to your face at bed time.

Tea tree essential oil can be blended with lotions, liquid soaps, and lotions. The beneficial effects of this oil are not diminished by any known product.

Mood change and elevation of the spirit can be enhanced with a blend of tea tree essential oil and other oils that are known to improve mood and thinking. Peppermint and tangerine have been found to accelerate the mood improvement properties of tea tree oil.

Treatment of insect bites with tea tree oil is enhanced by using a blend with bergamot, lemon, and geranium.

The key to effective use of tea tree essential oil is moderation. Just a few drops of the oil added to shampoo, body washes, and lotions, or acne creams can increase the benefits of these products as well as add an enticing fragrance.   • Tea tree, organic essential oil is non-toxic but should be avoided if you have allergy prone or sensitive skin. Maximum skin use level is 15%.  Oxidized tea tree oil can be a skin sensitizer.
  • Tea tree essential oil spoils quickly. It can last up to 6 months in room temperature or one year refrigerated.
