Background Information on Tangerine Essential Oil

Tangerines and the essential oils from it, originally are from China. They were imported into Europe in the early 1800’s  and the rest of the world,  a short time later. The essential oil from the tangerine holds a significance in the Chinese culture and herbal apothecary as does the mandarin.

Extracted through cold-pressing the peel, Tangerine essential oil is a source of antioxidants. It contains high concentrations of d-limonene which provide benefits for the skin, the immune system as well as emotional well being.

Fresh, soft, citrusy and sweet, tangerine oil is orange yellowish color that is said to have properties that help relieve digestive problems, reduce stress and increase circulation to the skin.*

This wonderful essential oil soothes the nervous system, helps fight and prevent bacterial infection, aids the digestive system helping to bring relief from diarrhea, flatulence and constipation.* When used on the skin it helps reduce as well as prevent stretch marks.*

Tangerine Essential Oil Uses and Benefits / Blends

Blends well with bergamot, clary sage, cinnamon, frankincense, nutmeg, lavender and neroli, rose and orange. Dilute with a carrier oil for direct skin contact. 

Need a great energy boost? Add three to four drops of tangerine, lemongrass and spearmint to a diffuser and inhale often.

For a wonderfully refreshing sugar scrub, mix together ¼ cup of coconut oil, two cups of brown sugar and 10 drops of spearmint and tangerine oils. To store, place mixture in an air tight glass container.

Lift Your Mood & Smell Good -Use a 10 milliliter bottle with a roller, add together 12 drops of tangerine oil, 9 drops of lavender, 3 drops of bergamot, and 9 drops of clary sage and 3 drops of Ylang Ylang. Top off the bottle with a separated portion of fractionated coconut oil and apply to your pulse points off and on during the day.
