Headache Relief Essential Oil Blend Properties*

Eucalyptus globulus essential oil acts as both an anti- inflammatory as well as an expectorant. Eucalyptus essential oil is said to help ease headaches, most especially those associated with sinus headaches.* 

Lavender (French) essential oil  has a high percentage of esters which offer anti-inflammatory and sedative properties. Lavender essential oil is a good oil to use if you are trying to alleviate a headache during the evening/nighttime hours.*

Peppermint essential oil contains a significant amount of menthol. Menthol is known to help relax and ease tension headaches and alleviate muscular aches and pains. Peppermint oil is quite stimulating and may interfere with sleeping.*

Rosewood essential oil  helps relieve nervous tension.*

Rosemary essential oil supports the stimulation of blood flow.*

Headache Essential Oil Blend Safety Tips

How to Use Essential Oils for Headaches

Cotton ball or Tissue Diffusion Technique

Place 1-3 drops of your chosen essential oil(s) on a cotton ball or tissue. Place the cotton ball or tissue near your nose and inhale. When first trying oil, use only one drop to ensure that you do not have a sensitivity or reaction to, especially while you have a headache.

Topical Application of Essential Oils and Gentle Massage for Headaches

Massage several drops onto the forehead, back of the neck and/or temples (depending on the location of the headache) Use this basic aromatherapy headache massage recipe:

1 oz. carrier oil

10-12 drops of your chosen essential oils from the above list of essential oils

NOTE:  If using eucalyptus essential oil or peppermint essential oil, use only 6-8 drops
