Cinnamon Essential Oil Properties | Cinnamon Leaf Essential Oil: (cinnamon zeylanicum)

Background Information on Cinnamon Oil:

Cinnamon is a tree in which the essential oil is extracted from its twigs and leaves. Cinnamon trees are famous for their spice. The essential oil of cinnamon does not come from the aromatic, dried inner bark of the tree like most expect (it is simply too strong to use for aromatherapy purposes). In fact, the oil is extracted from its leaves. The oil has a tendency to become darker once exposed to the oxygen in the air.   It originates from Sri Lanka, India, and Madagascar. Cinnamon is also used in Egypt. Egyptians used cinnamon in their embalming procedures. It is one of the most common spices in the Old Testament. During the 15th and 16th centuries cinnamon was one of the most prized spices, it was even more valuable than gold today. In today's culture, we have found that the spice can be useful when trying to lower blood sugar levels.

Cinnamon Oil Uses

It has been known to be helpful with the flu, rheumatism, warts, coughs, colds, and viral infections. It has been known for centuries to assist circulatory, digestive and immune- deficiency problems. Cinnamon is a common therapy for improving circulation, and digestion. It also reduces cellulite, stress, tiredness, and tight muscles. Cinnamon is great as an insect repellent and as a disinfectant.  Cinnamon improves the spirit by elevating low vitality, motivation, and creativity. Cinnamon calms the mind by reducing feelings of depression, hopelessness, and mental exhaustion. Essential oil eases stress on the body by increasing circulation (especially in legs and feet), decreasing viral infections (like the flu), and calming indigestion.

Cinnamon Oil Safety Tips

Cinnamon Leafs are non-toxic; however they may cause mild irritations to allergy prone skin.

Cinnamon Oil Blends

To relieve feelings of depression, and hopelessness, vaporize 2 drops of Cinnamon, and 4 drops of Sweet Orange. To sooth mental exhaustion and promote fresh thinking, use 1 drop of Cinnamon on a tissue and inhale gently. To increasing circulation mix Cinnamon Leaf with ginger, and lavadin and rub it into your legs and feet twice a day. To aid the body through viral infections take a bath with 1 drop cinnamon leaf and 3 drops ginger once day. To sooth indigestion blend cinnamon with coriander and tangerine and apply it to the abdomen using clockwise strokes.
